About

Noah Hassler-Forest is an award winning Dutch violinist/fiddle player, based in Barcelona. Driven by an early fascination with bluegrass fiddle, he began studying violin and piano at the age of five. As a teenager Noah performed extensively in youth orchestras, and studied classical violin with various teachers, such as Johannes Leertouwer and Kati Sebestién.

He completed his Bachelor’s degree at the Utrecht Conservatory and continued his studies as an Erasmus student at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki (Global Music). Drawn to jazz and cross-genre exploration, Noah later moved to Barcelona to pursue a Masters degree in Jazz Violin at ESMUC, studying with Apel-les Carod.

Noah has received multiple awards with his projects, including first prizes at the Dutch Jazz Competition, Keep an Eye the Records, the Dutch Violin Competition (Young Makers Division), and Rotterdam Bluegrass Competition. Noah is selected to compete in the semi-finals of the 2026 Seifert Contest.

Besides being a violinist, Noah composes for most of his ensembles, and sings in the bluegrass tradition. He is a founding member of the genre bending string quintet Woodcraft, the jazz/chamber trio Moon Garden (Ella Zirina and Joshua Herwig), and his bluegrass band under his own name. He currently plays with Dutch band Way Up North and Spanish banjo virtuoso Lluís Gomez as well.

Noah has worked intensively with Dutch singer, rapper and producer Igor. They collaborated on Igors debut album, Kind aan Zee, founding a hiphop orchestra along the way.
